Who is Ayana?

I don't really like to brag much, but I guess I have to in order for you all to get to know me better. Well, for one, I graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Music, and I've been playing piano for about 14 years. I'm a music theory nerd, and contaminate my students' brains with things to the likes of augmented/diminished intervals, scale degrees, 7th chords, etc (... don't worry if you don't know what any of those things are). I have some credits in Jill Scott's album "Light of the Sun" as a background vocalist... I'll probably spend one blog post explaining how that happened. I also have some substantial classical vocal skills (in a more general term, "opera"), which I didn't find out until later down the line was a genetic pass-down from my late grandmother. It's a hobby for the moment, but maybe I should do something special with it as a continued legacy.

As far as keys, I have a background of classical training, which I use to cross over into learning contemporary music. People think they're two completely different genres, but in actuality, contemporary songs consist of the same chords found in classical music, which is what makes them "easy" to play as a classical musician.

As you probably picked up earlier, I teach private piano lessons. And for those who live far from me, I teach private piano lessons through Skype. More info on that by Clicking Here.

One more almost completely irrelevant fact about me. I'm a co-founder of an artist magazine. Everything you need to know about that magazine can be found by Clicking Here.

Thanks for taking the time to read about me!
